Energy supplier receives special commendation

A leading commercial electricity supplier has received special commendation from a major business organisation.

EDF Energy was recognised by Business in the Community's chairman Stuart Rose after it performed well in three of the body's Excellence awards and won five Big Tick prizes for its responsible business practices.

Vincent de Rivaz, chief executive of the company, said that the awards were "a true recognition" of the great work carried out by its staff.

He explained: "I am particularly pleased that EDF Energy has received The Chairman's Special Commendation from BITC in recognition of our sustainability impact across a wide range of key areas for our company.

"I'm delighted that the dedication of our staff in working towards these goals has been recognised in this way."

EDF Energy recently announced it has entered into a joint venture with its sister company EDF Energies Nouvelles.

Under the agreement, the two firms will work together to develop expertise and resources related to renewable energy.
