Energy organisation appoints chief executive

One of the UK's leading energy organisations has announced the appointment of a new chief executive.

Dr Garry Felgate is to replace Duncan Sedgwick in the role at the Energy Retail Association (ERA) at the start of next month.

The new holder of the position is a fellow of the Energy Institute and a former director of the Carbon Trust, while he has previously held roles at companies including AEA Technology and KPMG.

Discussing his appointment, Dr Felgate outlined his hopes for the future.

He said: "I anticipate making a real impact in dealing with the energy suppliers, regulators, government and most important energy consumers at a time when energy issues rarely seem to be out of media and political focus."

The ERA was formed in 2003 and works to discover how it can help to make interacting with providers and suppliers better for domestic and commercial electricity users.

It also works protect vulnerable customers and ensure good sales practice in the sector.
