People in Scotland 'not satisfied' with switching

People in Scotland are less satisfied with the process of switching their energy deals than those in England and Wales, according to new research.

The study by the Scottish Consumer Council (SCC) has found that many people do not think that changing their deal is "worth the bother", while those who are loyal to companies are generally on worse deals than new ones.

It was also revealed that those living in the Highlands and Islands are most likely to suffer from poor deals, along with those on lower incomes and people without internet access.

Commenting on the study, SCC chair Douglas Sinclair said: "Our vision is for every consumer in Scotland, no matter where they live or how much money they have, to have the confidence and the opportunity to make informed choices about which companies they receive different services from.

"In a genuinely open, fair and competitive marketplace the consumer will be served well."

The SCC was established to ensure that customers get a fair deal in a number of areas, including health, education and local government.
