BRITAINS Big Six gas and electricity firms are ripping off customers, it was claimed yesterday.

British Gas, E.On, Scottish and Southern Energy, npower, EDF Energy and Scottish Power were accused of squashing competition to hike prices and make record profits.

But they dont pass on savings, a Sunday Times investigation found.

A poll also revealed 89 per cent of customers feel they are being fleeced. But regulator Ofgem said yesterday it had no plans to refer the Big Six to the Competition Commission.
