Energy White Paper

Your Electricity Bill

Do you ever look closely at your electricity bill? If you do, does it come as a shock?

If it doesn't, you probably aren't looking closely enough.

The fact is, despite the increased choice and promised competitiveness in the market, businesses have been stung by huge increases in their electricity bills since the markets were liberated. Energy suppliers say this is the result of increased wholesale prices - but a glance at their profits hints at a different story.

What to expect to find on an electricity bill

Your energy bills should be clearly laid out and show your meter readings, the number of units used and the cost per unit used to calculate the subtotal. The cost per unit is fixed and is as agreed in your contract. The supplier may also choose to impose a fixed Standing Charge for the provision of the meter and it's maintenance.

Keep a close eye on bills from month to month to ensure there have been no hidden price increases, and be aware that if you want to switch, you will need to give notice as much as 90 days before the renewal date. If you forget to cancel your contract, you will have to wait another year to renew, and may face price increases you can't avoid. Read the small print on your contract to make sure you do not get caught out.

The best way to avoid getting caught out is to switch to a supplier you can trust to play fair.

E4B is a new electricity provider with something to prove - prices for business electricity can go down as well as up. We do the work for you, keeping prices at a minimum by simplifying our processes and keeping our tariffs absolutely transparent.

Our bills look a little different. The uniform E4B EVEN12 payment plan provides you with monthly bills spread throughout the year based on your expected annual consumption. We read your meter regularly and notify you of any shortfall or surplus, reviewing your annual electricity plan once a year. You benefit from knowing that your electricity provider is on your side, being able to budget electricity bills for the whole year, and most importantly, the lowest prices on the market.
